Kent D. Logsdon is a US government official and diplomat . Since September 30, 2019, he has served as Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment at the United States Department of State . From 20 January to 8 May 2018, he served as charge d'affaires , the Embassy of the United States in Germany .

Life

Logsdon is from Sewickley, Allegheny County , Pennsylvania . Until 1979 he attended Quaker Valley High School there . He earned a master's degree in international relations from the University of Virginia and a bachelor's degree in government from the University of Notre Dame . In addition to his mother tongue, Logsdon speaks Russian, Ukrainian, Thai and German. He is married to the diplomat Michelle Rabayda Logsdon. The couple have a daughter and a son.

Before his Berlin embassy post, he embarked on a career as a top civil servant that had taken him to various positions at the US State Department in Washington, DC, as well as to Georgia, Ukraine, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Germany.
