Kenta Maeda ( Japanese 前 田 健 太 , Maeda Kenta ; born April 11, 1988 in Tadaoka , Osaka Prefecture ) is a Japanese baseball player on the position of pitcher . In 2010 he received the Sawamura Prize for the best pitcher in Japanese professional baseball.

In the PL-Gakuen high school from Tondabayashi Maeda took part twice in the Kōshien , in spring Kōshien 2006 PL-Gakuen reached the semi-finals with him. After graduating, he was drafted by the Carp in the first round in 2006 . In 2007 he was only used in the second team, his debut in the first team he made on April 5, 2008 in a home game against Yokohama . Already in his rookie season 2008 Maeda ran as a regular starter for Hiroshima's first team and scored nine wins and two losses in a total of 19 missions . In 2009 he led the Central League with 29 starts alongside teammate Kan Ōtake and Yakult -Pitcher Masanori Ishikawa . At the beginning of the 2010 season, Maeda was one of the most successful pitchers in the league, opened the all-star game for the Central League and led the league at the end of the season with 15 wins and an Earned Run Average (ERA) of 2.29. The achievement was awarded the 2010 Sawamura Prize. Maeda is the first Central League winner since Kenshin Kawakami's 2004 award and the first for Hiroshima since Shinji Sasaoka in 1991.

In April 2012, Maeda threw a no-hitter in a game against the Yokohama BayStars as the 74th pitcher in league history .
