Kentaro Iida

Kentaro Iida ( Japanese 飯 田健 太郎 , Iida Kentaro ; * May 4, 1998 ) is a Japanese judoka . He was the 2018 Asian game winner in the light heavyweight division, the weight class up to 100 kilograms.

Iida won the Grand Slam tournament in Paris in 2017 , defeating Portuguese Jorge Fonseca in the semifinals and French Cyrille Maret in the final . Six months later he reached the finals of the Universiade in Taipei , but lost there to Zelym Kotsoiev from Azerbaijan. In the summer of 2018 Iida reached the final of the Asian Games in Jakarta by defeating the Mongols Otgonbaatar Lkhagvasuren , in the final he defeated the South Korean Cho Gu-ham .

In 2019 Iida defeated Zelym Kotsoiev in the semifinals of the Grand Slam tournament in Düsseldorf , and in the final he won against Cho Gu-ham. Six months later he met Russian Kirill Denisov in the semifinals of the Grand Slam tournament in Brasília . After defeating this, he defeated the Brazilian Rafael Buzacarini in the final .
