Kenutu is a private island in the south of Vavaʻu in the Pacific . Politically, it belongs to the Kingdom of Tonga .

geography

The Motu is located on the easternmost edge of the reef , relatively far south and away from the center of Vavaʻu, together with ʻUmuna Island and Lolo . To the west, Ofu Island and Mafana Island are in the next reef edge . The island belongs to the Afuha'amango family, which was a gift of appreciation from the King of Tonga after Afuha'amango secured victory in numerous battles in the kingdom. The island is currently uninhabited, but is visited from time to time by residents of the neighboring islands.

climate

The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands of the Vava'u group, Kenutu is occasionally hit by cyclones .
