Keos is a Franco - Belgian comic set in ancient Egypt . The focus of the adventure series is the young Prince Keos at the court of Pharaoh Merenptah , who not only opposes the intrigues of the high priest Roy, but also witnesses the exodus of the Israelites under Moses .

Jacques Martin temporarily gave up work on Jhen after six albums in 1990 and developed a new historical series with his illustrator. At first there was no permanent publisher. While Osiris (1992) was still published by Bagheera, The Cobra (1993) was published by Hélyode. It was only when Casterman took over the previous albums that Das goldene Kalb (1999) came out, which had already been completed five years earlier. A small format complete edition was published in 2009.

Casterman was also responsible for the German edition and released all three albums in 2001.
