The Kerivoulinae are a group of bats from the smooth-nosed family (Vespertilionidae). Two genera belong to this group.
features
The following morphological properties are mentioned as diagnostic features of the Kerivoulinae: the second finger bone of the third finger is about as long as the first. The skull is high and rounded. The ears are funnel-shaped with a distinct bulge below the tip. The tragus (ear cover) is long, narrow and pointed. There are six molars in the upper jaw . The fur is woolly.
Internal system
The Kerivoulinae includes 2 genera, the woolly bats ( Kerivoula ), with over 20 species in Africa, Southeast Asia and Australia, and the trumpet ears ( Phoniscus ) with 4 species in Southeast Asia and Australia.
