Kerrylamont Farm

Kerrylamont Farm is an isolated farm on the Scottish island of Bute . It is located near the southeast coast of the island about 2.5 km northeast of the small town of Stravanan and six kilometers south of Rothesay , the capital of the island, and belongs to the lands of Mount Stuart House .

Kerrylamont Farm is not yet included on the Ordnance Survey map from 1863, while the farm was geographically recorded in 1897. From this it can be concluded that it was built in the late 19th century. However, the exact construction date is not recorded. In 1971 Kerrylamont Farm was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in the highest category A.

description

The former dairy is particularly worthy of protection. The one-story, round building reflects the architectural extravagance on the grounds of Mount Stuart House. The building is made of red brick and is plastered. Inside there is a square, circumferential portico. In the center is a painted fountain with foliage and mermaid motifs, which is surrounded by marble cladding. Decorative tiles, some terrazzo tiles, were used there and in the outer buildings . The entrance doors and windows are decorated with wooden frames. Round arched windows and dormers with gable roofs are built in all around . The conical roof is covered with gray slate shingles.
