Kerstin Krieg (* 1979 in Würselen ) is a German film scholar and filmmaker .

biography

Kerstin Krieg studied film studies in Germany and the USA. Since 2001 she has made numerous short films. For Sushi Dinner (D 2002, miniDV) she and Arne Ahrens won the Rhineland-Palatinate short film award . A Downtown Fairytale (USA 2003, HD), which was nominated for an Emmy , followed in the USA . In addition, together with Arne Ahrens, she realized the television reports The Wig Shop Project (USA 2003, miniDV) and Wonderland (USA 2003, miniDV), for which they also received an Emmy nomination. After numerous work as an editor of short films and documentaries and in the field of DVD production, she was involved in the realization of the short film Großstadträuber (D 2005, 16 mm) as assistant director and DVD producer. Großstadträuber again won the short film award of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, as well as the Hessian film award for the best short film.

In addition to her practical film work, she founded FILMZ - the festival of German cinema in Mainz - in 2001 as a team . From 2004 to 2008 she was the first chairwoman and conceptual director of the festival. To this day, she selects the full-length feature films for the FILMZ competition.
