Kerwin Du Bois

Kerwin Du Bois (* 1977 in Port of Spain ) is a Trinidadian singer, songwriter and producer of soca and calypso music.

Career

Du Bois was born in 1977. Du Bois made his first public appearance as a singer in 1991, while still at school, at the first Junior Calypso Monarch , a competition for young talents as part of the Trinidadian carnival. In 1992 he won the competition. Also in the Calypso genre, he won the Young Kings title in the same year and the UK Calypso Monarch title in 2000 . At the time he was living in London, where he had moved in 1993 on a fellowship from the Association of British Calypsonians.

From 2003, Du Bois expanded his musical spectrum to include Soca for financial reasons, initially as a songwriter and producer for u. a. Blaxx, Bunji Garlin , Destra Garcia , Machel Montano , Patrice Roberts and Kees Diefenthaller. In 2008 he was nominated as a producer for eight International Soca Awards as part of the world's largest Soca music competition and won two, in addition he was nominated three times for the COTT Award . In 2011 he wrote and produced the title of International Groovy Soca Monarch, Wotless, for Kees Diefenthaller from Kes the Band . From 2012 Du Bois also appeared as a singer himself and achieved second place in the International Groovy Soca Monarch competition with his single Bacchanalist . In 2014 he won there with the single Too Real .

Du Bois lives in Toronto, Canada . He has been married since 2012 and has a daughter and son, born in 1997.
