Chain foot

The chain foot was a special German measure of length. It was a measure for measuring land. The difference to the simple foot , which was divided duodecimally into Prussia 313.853 millimeters , was the decimal division. The chain foot was also available in Anhalt-Koethen , Nassau and Mecklenburg-Strelitz . In Hessen-Homburg and Frankfurt / Main the name was chain or forest foot. Also called to the foot only Survey Feet .

  • Prussia from May 16, 1816: 1 chain foot = 1 1/5 factory foot
    • 1 rod = 10 chain feet
  • Hanover : 1 chain foot = 1/10 rod = 46.735 centimeters
  • Mecklenburg-Schwerin: 1 chain foot = 46.019 centimeters
