A chain link (also known as a knotted chain) consists of one or more cords , which are made, for example, with many Slipstek knots inserted in a row .
application
When climbing, the single-strand chain link is used to store and transport short accessory cords or climbing slings. At the tie knot , the chain link is used to shorten and secure the free end. In the maritime sector, the chain link serves as a rope shortening. In the military , these are called armpit cords , catch cords or shoulder cords . After the parachute jump, the lines are gathered with the chain link for transport. A useful chain of knots in civilian clothing was the quick-release chain ( Posament chain) made from knots on fur coats.
