Production notes, publication

The tragicomedy was directed by the Estonian film pioneer Voldemar Päts (* 1902), a nephew of the later Estonian President Konstantin Päts . He shot Kevade unelm as a pure entertainment film. Voldemar Päts' wife Olga (née Kaparjost) also plays in the film.

The production company was the Film-Klubi , founded in 1925 , whose members interested in cinematography had committed themselves to further development and professionalization of the Estonian film industry.

The film premiered on December 6, 1927. It is only partially preserved. The film negative and the existing copies were destroyed in a fire in the Tallinn cinema Endla in 1933 .

criticism

The Rahvaleht newspaper of December 17, 1927 was disappointed with Kevade unelm in comparison with the Estonian film Noored kotkad , shot in the same year :

“While the film 'Kevade unelm', which was shown in Tallinn a week earlier, was disappointing because there was neither a basic idea, nor good acting or technically good recordings, the film 'Noored kotkad' rekindles belief in the future of the Estonian people Film industry. "
