Life

It was a decade before his next documented film work, the horror film The Devil on Wheels . From the beginning of the 1980s he was involved in numerous major Hollywood productions. Between 1989 and 1991 he was nominated three times in a row for an Oscar in the category Best Sound : 1989 for Die Hard , 1990 for Abyss - Abyss of Death and 1991 for Hunt for Red October . However, he couldn't win any of the prizes. Cleary only worked occasionally for television; for his first television film , The Day After , he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 1984. At this award ceremony, too, he received nothing. In 1990 he retired from the film business.
