Kevin Granata

Kevin P. Granata (born December 29, 1961 - April 16, 2007 in Blacksburg , Virginia) was an American biomechanic .

Kevin Granata earned a bachelor's degree in biomechanics from Ohio State University in 1984 . In 1986, he completed postgraduate studies as a master at Purdue University from. In 1993 he received his PhD in Biomechanics, again from Ohio State University. Granata developed into an expert in orthopedic research. Since 2005 he has been an associate professor at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University ("Virginia Tech") in Blacksburg, Germany, teaching the mechanical basics of muscle reflexes and robotics. He was one of the leading representatives of his field in the USA and was co-editor of the scientific journals Journal of Applied Biomechanics and Journal of Electromyography & Kinesiology .

Granata was killed in a rampage at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007 .
