Kevin Wilson Jr. (* 1990 in Durham , North Carolina ) is an American film producer , director and screenwriter in the field of short films .

Career

Kevin Wilson Jr. attended Hillside High School in Durham until 2007 and then studied journalism at North Carolina State University , which he graduated with a BS . He then attended NYU .

His first short film was released in 2012 under the title The Unattainable Piece , and its budget cost was an estimated $ 850. For his second short film My Nephew Emmett , of the story of Emmett Till told him was in 2017 awarded the Student Academy Awards of the Student Academy Award presented in gold. He also received an Oscar nomination in the “ Best Short Film ” category at the 2018 Academy Awards .
