Khajag Barsamian

Khajag Barsamian (born July 4, 1951 in Arapgir , Turkey) is the current Archbishop of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in North America ( Catholic of Echmiadzin ).

Barsamian began his training in the Holy Cross Seminary of the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople in Istanbul. From 1967 to 1971 he continued his studies in the Theological Seminary of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem . He was ordained a priest in 1971 and graduated as a Vardapet in 1973 .

Khajag Barsamian worked as a pastor in Istanbul, the Middle East and the USA. In 1990 he was elected Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the USA and ordained bishop by Catholicos Wasgen I in Etschmiadzin . In 1992 he received the title of archbishop.

Archbishop Barsamian is co-editor of a translation of the Old Armenian Bible into New Armenian
