Corbion (formerly CSM NV ) is a Dutch public limited company based in Amsterdam . The company was the world's largest supplier of ingredients for the bakery industry and the global market leader in the manufacture of lactic acid and its derivatives . In addition to the food industry , CSM also supplied the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

The company has been focusing on biochemical products since 2012 and has been trading as Corbion since 2013.

The business activities of the company, originally founded in 1919 as a sugar processing factory ( C entrale S uiker M aatschappij ), were divided into the divisions CSM Bakery Supplies Europe (development, production and sales of baking ingredients; market share in Europe about 12%) and CSM Bakery Supplies North America (USA, Canada, Mexico; second in this region with a market share of 7%) and PURAC (lactic acid and derivatives; world market leader).

In 2012, CSM's turnover was EUR 3.315 billion . 9,664 employees worked for CSM in 28 countries.

CSM was listed on the Amsterdam stock exchange Euronext Amsterdam in the AMX index .

The CSM brands included BakeMark , Bender Iglauer, Boehringer Backmittel, Croexsa, Margo, Unipro, Carels, Caravan Ingredients, HC Brill and PURAC.

In mid-2012, CSM sold its European and North American interests in bakery industry products to focus on biochemical products and renamed itself Corbion in 2013. In 2015, Corbion had a turnover of 918.3 million euros and 1673 employees. Corbion is listed on Euronext in Amsterdam.
