Kick van der Vall (born March 3, 1946 in Rotterdam ) is a former Dutch football player .

Career

Kick van der Vall began his professional career in 1963 in the first division team in his home town of Feyenoord Rotterdam . On December 13, 1963, he made his debut in the Eredivisie . In the 2-1 win against GVAV Rapiditas , he also scored the winning goal. However, he did not make the breakthrough in the following years. In 1965 he was able to celebrate the national championship with the club, but only completed ten games that year. In four years at the top Rotterdam club, van der Vall never made it past thirteen league appearances. In the summer of 1967 he therefore decided to switch to league rivals FC Twente Enschede . There was a player swap and Spasoje Samardžić moved to Rotterdam in return. Under Twente coach Kees Rijvers , the midfielder developed into one of the heads of the young team. Although a regular player, van der Vall moved to AFC DWS after just one year to take part in the Messestädte-Pokal , the predecessor of the UEFA Cup , with the club . In the competition for the KNVB Cup , the team played through to the semi-finals, but had to admit defeat 1: 3 against Feyenoord Rotterdam. Van der Vall met his old club Twente in the round of 16. With his 1: 1 goal during extra time and the subsequent success on penalties, he led DWS into the next round. In 1969 the midfielder returned to Enschede and signed again for FC Twente. In 1973 they reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup, and in 1975 they even reached the final of the tournament. Both times the team lost to Borussia Mönchengladbach . In the 1973/74 season, the team was about to win the Dutch championship, but just missed it and had to let Feyenoord go first. 1977 finally the first title with Twente. The club was able to win the KNVB Cup. In 1979 van der Vall left the club with his long-time teammates Theo Pahlplatz and Kees van Ierssel . While Phalplatz and van Ierssel ended their active careers, van der Vall hung on for two more years and switched to Vitesse Arnheim . With whom he rose in 1980 from the Eerste Divisie and ended his professional career after another season.
