Pine trees in the wind
Pines in the wind or reeds bleaches the long withering hair is the German version of the Swedish folk song Vårvindar friska .
The Swedish original text was written around 1830 by the Swedish author Julia Nyberg (1785-1854) under the title Den stackars Anna eller Molltoner från Norrland . The lyrical text full of descriptions of nature begins with the spring winds and is about a pair of lovers (verses 1-3), where the man goes to war (verses 4 and 5) and does not return (verse 6). The melody is older, a traditional Norrland folk tune . The song is widespread in Sweden and is sung especially on April 30 at the Swedish spring festival Valborg (German: Walpurgis Night ). Ingrid Bergman sang the song in the 1945 film The Bells of St. Mary .
The German text comes from Walter Scherf (1920–2010), journey name tejo , a German writer from the Bündische Jugendbewegung . The lyrical form of the nature descriptions corresponds to the original, but the content is completely different and conveys a scout romance. Under the title Das Schilf , this was the first song in 1971 that Juliane Werding, then fifteen, sang on television.
