Kilburn is an above-ground station of the London Underground in the London Borough of Camden . It is located in the Travelcard tariff zone 2 on Shoot Up Hill, under a viaduct of the A5 trunk road . The station served by the Jubilee Line was used by 7.87 million passengers in 2014. About 200 meters to the south is Brondesbury Station from London Overground on the North London Line .

The station was opened on November 24, 1879 by the Metropolitan Railway (predecessor of the Metropolitan Line ). At that time the name of the station was Kilburn and Brondesbury . From November 20, 1939, trains of the Bakerloo Line , which took over the traffic on the Stanmore branch line , also stopped here . The parallel traffic only lasted a few months; to enable acceleration and unbundling, trains on the Metropolitan Line have passed this station without stopping since December 7, 1940. On September 25, 1950, the name of the station was changed to Kilburn . The newly opened Jubilee Line took over the Bakerloo Line traffic on May 1, 1979.
