The Kildalkey Head is a massive and rocky headland of the island Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It separates Cave Bay in the north from South West Bay in the south.
The headland is named after the South African whaling ship Kildalkey under Captain H. Hansen, whose crew built the Admiralty Hut on Heard Island in 1929 as part of the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (1929-1931) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson and hoisted the Union Jack .
