Kilian's Church (Kaltennordheim)
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kilian is in the rural town of Kaltennordheim in the Rhön in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia .
history
The church was built in the 14th century as a successor to a wooden church on a hill, framed by the cemetery . The first structural change took place in 1568. Then she fell victim to the hordes in the Thirty Years' War . As a result, it lost its medieval appearance. However, fragments still indicate the age.
In 1719 it was badly damaged in a city fire . It was then rebuilt at low cost. It was left to decay until 1884 and then rebuilt. One hundred years later the church was renovated again.
The organ was purchased in 1890 and renovated in 1912. In 1947 the roof was repaired. In 1964 the church received an electrical connection. In 19ß0 the gutter was renewed. In 1981 the walls were thoroughly drained. In 1983 the galleries were decorated with Luther roses .
