Killer Aspect is a Finnish rock band from Helsinki , consisting of Max Paananen (vocals, keyboard), Samuli Relander (guitar), Valeri Drobych (guitar, background), Timo Huhtala (bass, background) and Teijo Jämsä (drums, background). The band's musical influences range from modern rock to heavy metal to Afro-American music, blues and funk.

history

The band was founded in 2004 by two former members of the band Killer and Samuli Relander ( The Winyls , Personal Aspect ) under the name Cabincrew . Max, a friend of Teijo's, was hired as the singer. Jukka Backlund , longtime friend and live keyboardist with Killer , completed the band. The band booked Finnvox Studios, recorded the first six tracks and gave their first live shows in early 2005. Among other things, they played the support for Poets of the Fall in Tavastia .

In the summer of 2005 a name dispute arose with the English dance act Cabincrew of the same name . The Finns then decided to change their name: the two previous bands Killer and Personal Aspect were combined to form the new name Killer Aspect . Killer Aspect played under a new name at their first big festival, the Provinssirock .

In 2006 Jukka Backlund decided to leave the band. In addition to his engagement with Killer Aspect , he had produced other bands and was also on the road as a live keyboardist for Sunrise Avenue , which has now accepted him permanently into the band. The contact to Sunrise Avenue came through Teijo, who recorded six tracks from the Sunrise Avenue album On the Way to Wonderland as a studio drummer . Killer Aspect experienced a significant increase in their awareness through this connection. Sunrise Avenue played two songs from the as yet unreleased debut album by Killer Aspect before each concert in Germany.

After Jukka Backlund left, Max took over the keyboard and in 2007, Valeri Drobych, the youngest member of the band, joined Killer Aspect. He met Teijo and Timo through a video shoot for Natalya Podolskaya's Nobody Hurt Noone , the Russian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005. The song was written by Valeri's father and Valeri and Teijo performed at the live gala in Kiev . They reached number 15.
