Killiecrankie ( Scottish Gaelic : Coille Chneagaidh ) is a village in Perth and Kinross , Scotland on the Garry River. It is on the Killiecrankie pass on the A9 . In the village there is a power station of the Tummel Hydro-Electric Power Scheme . Much of the shore is owned by the National Trust for Scotland .
During the Jacobite Revolt in 1689 , the Battle of Killiecrankie was fought on July 27, 1689 on the northern edge of the village. Donald MacBane, who stood for the side of William III. of Orange fought, lost the battle and is believed to have crossed the river at The Soldier's Leap .
