The Kilnaughton Bay is a small bay on the south coast of the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . It is located about two kilometers west of the Port Ellen ferry terminal . A small stream, the Cornabus Burn, flows in the middle and flows out of Loch Muchairt a few kilometers to the west . The road from Port Ellen to Kilnaughton runs partly along Kilnaughton Bay. The name of the bay is derived from the church Cill Neachdain ( Mechtan's Church ) located on the shore . The bay is about 800 m wide and cuts 250 m deep into the land. To the south of Kilnaughton Bay is the village of Kilnaughton.

There are several caves along the bay. Long-term habitation was found in a four-meter-deep cave. Various layers were excavated in which fragments of pottery and flint tools were found. The cave was last inhabited in 1945. No evidence of habitation was found in the surrounding caves.
