Kim Ŏn

Kim Ŏn (* 1973 in Pusan ) is a South Korean poet .

Life

Kim Ŏn was born in Pusan in 1973 . He made his debut as a writer in 1998 when six of his poems were published. His poetic journey is described as a 'giant' emerging from a 'breathing grave' and writing a 'novel'. One of his critics noted that his poems were not commented on in a single internet blog, and that after reading more than three poems in a day, the reader is likely to overheat and explode. And yet one should read these poems. They are considered 'untranslatable' and can easily be misunderstood as simply absurd poems, but they are creative poems. In this regard, Kim is a poet who never ceases to explore the world, the nature of existence and the principles of language, so much so that he calls himself Ŏn , which means language.

The ultimate question in Kim's poems is like a thorough exploration of language, which in turn is like a fundamental exploration of the realm of poetry. Kim is a poet who induces intellectual contemplation rather than emotional infection, and who engages in such contemplation as well.
