Kim Ae-ran (* 1980 in Incheon ) is a South Korean writer .

Life

Kim Ae-ran was born in Incheon in 1980 . Run your collection of short stories , Daddy! ( 달려라 아비 ) was awarded the Hankook Ilbo Literature Prize in 2005. At the time, Kim was twenty-five years old, making her the youngest ever winner. Anthology. In 2008, her story Schwerthieb ( 칼자국 ) was awarded the Lee Hyo-seok Literature Prize, also as the youngest recipient.

The characters in Kim's stories are young people in their twenties moving from the countryside to Seoul . After industrialization and urbanization began in the 1960s, Korean literature regularly addressed young people turning their backs on their homeland to go to Seoul. While this trend continues, literary interest in it has diminished. Kim spent most of her childhood in a small village called Sŏsan and only moved to Seoul in her twenties. The characters and themes of her stories reflect their own experiences in the country and therefore have realistic traits.

She originally studied drama at the university. Her observations of people and situations at the university, portrayed with wit and humor, make Kim's works entertaining.
