Kim Cusack

Kim Cusack is an American jazz clarinetist and saxophonist from Dixieland .

Live and act

Cusack first learned piano in the early 1940s; then clarinet in a dance band in high school. For many years he was a member of James Dapogny's Chicago Jazz Band and the Salty Dogs Jazz Band ; He also played with Gene Mayl's Dixieland Rhythm Kings, Ernie Carson , Turk Murphy , George Brunis , Wild Bill Davison , the Happy Bottom Riding Academy Jazz Band by Dan Williams and tenor saxophone in the Jan Garber Orchestra, with whom he was featured tenor saxophonist. Cucack lived for several years in Lake City, Minnesota, where he worked regularly in the Twin Cities with Jim Field's Moldy Figs and the Bill Evans New Orleans Jazz Band. After returning to the Chicago area, he made frequent appearances at Andy's Jazz Club with Russ Phillips' Windy City All-Stars, as well as at the Village Tavern in Long Grove. He also works with the Chicago Cubs Quintet , the official Dixieland band of the baseball team of the same name . Currently (2013) he appears at festivals with Bob Schulz's Frisco Jazz Band. In the field of jazz he was involved in 67 recording sessions between 1964 and 2012.
