Ernie Carson

Ernie Carson (born December 4, 1937 in Portland (Oregon) ; † January 9, 2012 ibid) was an American musician ( cornet , trumpet , piano , vocals ) from Dixieland .

Live and act

Carson began playing the trumpet in elementary school and worked as a musician in theater bands during high school. He began his professional career from 1954 to 1954 as a member of the Castle Jazz Band before serving in the Marines for two years . In the Los Angeles area he then played in groups with Dave Wierbach, Jig Adams and Ray Bauduc , finally in 1961/62 with Turk Murphy . Carson occasionally led his own formations such as the Capital City Jazz Band (from 1972) and the Castle Jazz Band (from 1992). He played from the 1970s in the Dixieland scene in Atlanta ; he lived in New Orleans in the 1980s and 1990s before returning to Portland. During his time in New Orleans he recorded with Pud Brown ( Palm Court Strut ), Wild Bill Davison , Nick Fatool , Rick Fay , Art Hodes , Helen Humes and Tony Parenti and played in various bands around the city. He released albums under his own name for the labels Pearl (1964), Jazzology, GHB, Fat Cat's Jazz and Stomp Off.
