Kim Kuk-hyang (weightlifter)

Kim Kuk-hyang (born April 20, 1993 ) is a North Korean weightlifter .

Career

Kuk-hyang was World Youth Champion in 2009 and Asian Youth Champion in 2010. In 2010 she also took part in the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and won the bronze medal in the 63 kg class. At the Junior Asian Championships in 2012, however, she was tested positive for methyltestosterone and methanedriol in the doping control and was banned for two years. After her suspension, she won the silver medal in the over 75 kg class at the 2015 Asian Championships . She won bronze at the 2015 World Championships . Kim Kuk-hyang won the silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the over 75 kg class . With 306 kg in a duel, she was one kilogram behind the Chinese gold medal winner Meng Suping .
