Kimwenza (formerly also Kimuensa ) is a place in the Democratic Republic of the Congo . It is located on the southern edge of the state capital Kinshasa at an altitude of 493 m .
The place is on the Matadi-Kinshasa Railway , which connects Kinshasa with the port city of Matadi on the Atlantic Ocean and is served by the Kinshasa light rail . The place was founded in July 1893 by Belgian Jesuits , who set up a first mission here.
education
In 1954 the Faculté de philosophie Saint Pierre Canisius was founded here as a seminary of the Jesuits . It has been officially recognized as a private university since 1993.
