Round pavilion in the children's home in Ahlbeck

The children's home , founded as Kaiser Wilhelm Stift , in Ahlbeck , a district of the Ostseebad Heringsdorf municipality on the island of Usedom in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , was opened in 1913. The former children's home at Dünenstrasse 2 has been a protected architectural monument since 1988 .

The oval building ensemble of standardized wooden houses on a forest property was financed by Kaiser Wilhelm II . The children's home was inaugurated in the presence of the emperor.

The prefabricated parts were supplied by Christoph & Unmack from Upper Lusatia . The main building and the dining room are opposite each other and on the sides are the low houses with bedrooms and washrooms. The roof riders are provided with ventilation slots. Arcades connect all buildings with one another. In the center is the thatched round pavilion.

The building ensemble is used today by the Sports Youth Berlin.
