Children's Aid Saar
The Children's Aid e. V. Saar is a regionally active, non-profit German association that is active in Saarland .
Goal setting
Kinderhilfe Saar would like to offer support to children living in Saarland who need medical, psychological or social help. Both individual cases and long-term projects can be funded. The guideline here is to take supporting measures “as early, as unbureaucratically and as directly as possible”.
Projects
- “Early Breakfast” - In some elementary schools, up to 70 percent of children come to class without breakfast. For this reason, the association subsidizes healthy breakfasts at several schools in order to promote the attention, the ability to concentrate and the health of the school children, especially since this also has the potential to improve individual success in school. In some cases, there is cooperation with the schools' associations.
- "Equal educational opportunities" - For children who cannot afford their own contribution of 1 euro for the daily lunch at school, the association subsidizes their lunch at some schools. Without this subsidy, these children would drop out of all-day care at school, would not receive any school-based homework assistance, would benefit considerably less from social contact with their peers in the afternoon and would have significantly fewer chances of attending secondary schools later.
- “Laughter is medicine for the soul” - with clinic clowns, the association brings a good mood to the children's wards of some hospitals. In some cases, the self-healing process benefits from this, even in seriously ill or chronically ill small patients.
- Musical and cultural offers - Musical educational programs promote social learning, individual development of personality and the acquisition of skills that strengthen self-esteem and self-confidence. The association therefore supports several such projects, e.g. B. "The Little Strings".
- The “Horse and Forest” project familiarizes elementary school children with the local nature and also enables them to come into contact with animals, which is intended to boost self-confidence.
- "Holidays on the farm" - For children who have never left their place of residence or have never been able to go on vacation, the association enables such vacation stays on a farm during the summer holidays, the reference to animals, plants and agriculture, Last but not least, an aspect of social participation, of social exchange.

At the suggestion of the Saarland Prime Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer , the founder and chairwoman of Kinderhilfe e. V. Saar, Margarita von Boch , was honored on December 5, 2016, International Volunteer Day , with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany , which she was personally awarded by Federal President Joachim Gauck in Berlin's Bellevue Palace .
