King Fahd's Fountain ( Arabic نافورة الملك فهد, DMG Nāfūrat al-Malik Fahd ) is currently the tallest artificial fountain in the world with a height of up to 312 meters . It is located in Jeddah , Saudi Arabia . It was built between 1980 and 1983 and commissioned in 1985 in honor of King Fahd . The model was the Jet d'eau fountain in Geneva .

The use of salt water places high demands on the construction, as corrosion , abrasion , mud , sand and the settlement of marine life can impair the function.

The fountain is operated by two pumps that are connected to the nozzle by a 350 meter long, tapered pipe . The exit speed is 375 km / h with an exit volume of 625 liters per second. The nozzle has a diameter of 126 mm. The water in the air weighs 18 tons. The fountain is illuminated at night with 500 spotlights that achieve an output of over 9,000 kW.
