The Khumbutse ( Chinese : 昆布孜 峰) is a six-thousander on the border between the Khumbu region of Nepal and Tibet west of Mount Everest .
It lies in continuation of the west ridge between the west shoulder of Mount Everest and the Lingtren ( 6714 m ). The Lho La Pass ( 6006 m ) is located between the west shoulder and the mountain .
The Khumbutse was first climbed in 1979 in a solo ascent by the Yugoslav mountaineer Franček Knez , while his comrades climbed the direct west ridge on Mount Everest.
