history

Amann, Schikora and Zierold met in 1968 while studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . Since 1977 they have been working together in the King Kong Art Cabinet Munich / Frankfurt. The stimulus for the formation of groups was the building of bridges to the “expressive” tradition of the Munich artist groups SPUR (1957–1965), WIR (1959–1965), GEFLECHT (1965–1968) and - at that time - collective Herzogstraße (1975–1982). and the friendly closeness to the painting group WeibsBilder (1977–1988), which was founded at the same time .

The specialty of the group remains the clinging to “collective painting” for many years. There are no individual work by group members. Since Amann and Schikora live in Munich, but Zierold in Frankfurt, the works are sent back and forth between the cities for processing. There are also small and very small sculptures as well as graphic prints. The painting was accompanied from the beginning with filmic experiments, the so-called art films . Reading images are also repeatedly created for publications , with graphics annotated with text.
