Kinlochaline Castle is a fortress on the property Ardtornish in Morvern in the Scottish management unit Highland . The Niederungsburg from the 12th century is also called Caisteal an Ime (German: Butterburg) in Scottish Gaelic , because a lady from the MacInnes clan , Dubh Chal (German: Lady of the Black Veil), the master builder with butter, whose Volume that corresponded to the castle should have paid.

Kinlochaline Castle is at one end of Loch Aline in a strategic location for coastal defense. The tower is four stories high, covers a floor space of 13.07 meters by 10.34 meters and has walls made of 3 meter thick blocks of rare sandstone .
history
The castle was burned to the ground in 1644 when it was besieged by Alasdair MacColla during the War of the Three Kingdoms . In 1679 the castle was attacked in a feud by Archibald Campbell , 9th Earl of Argyll . Kinlochaline Castle was abandoned around 1690.
The rebuilding of the castle in the late 1990s was overseen by Historic Scotland . Today it is a residential building. Historic Scotland has listed it as a Category B Historic Building.
