Kino Otok - Isola Cinema is an annual film festival in Izola on the Slovenian Adriatic coast . Lorena Pavlić has been the director since 2007. She was previously the theater director in Ljubljana.

Films from Africa , Asia , Latin America as well as from Eastern Europe and neighboring countries will be shown. The partner film festival is the International Film Festival Innsbruck (IFFI), whose director Helmut Groschup has a seat on the international executive committee of Kino Otok.

history

The festival was founded in 2004 by the Slovenian filmmakers Jan Cvitkoviċ and Vlado Škafar.

The 6th festival took place from September 8th to 14th, 2010. The star guest was Souleymane Cissé from Mali , who opened the festival with his latest film Tell Me Who You Are . The Algerian filmmaker Mohammed Soudani received the audience award for his film Taxiphone .

The 8th festival took place from May 30th to June 3rd, 2012.
