Kintrockat House

Kintrockat House is a villa near the Scottish town of Brechin in the Council Area Angus . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A. The associated lodge is protected as a Category C structure.

history

The villa was probably built in 1721. As part of a building archaeological study that was carried out in 2016, five construction phases were identified. The rear wings date from the later 18th century, probably from 1791. Kintrockat House was redesigned in the 20th century. In 2013 the villa was added to the register of endangered listed buildings in Scotland. In 2012, his condition was classified as poor with low risk at the same time. The villa has been restored since 2016.

Kintrockat House is about three kilometers southwest of Brechin. Its facades are plastered with Harl , leaving out natural stone surrounds . The south-facing main facade of the two-story, elongated building is three axes wide. It closes with a small triangular gable . Two flatter wings go off to the rear.

The one-story lodge dates from the early 19th century. It is located around 600 meters northeast of the villa off the A90 near the junction of the A935 and flanks the access road to Kintrockart House. There is a Gothic tracery on its north facade . The building closes with a high pyramid roof .
