Kip Carpenter (born April 30, 1979 in Kalamazoo ) is a speed skater who specializes in short distances .

Kip Carpenter has been running in the World Cup since the end of February 1999. After several good places in the B World Cup, he was used for the first time in A runs in January 2000 and immediately achieved 15th place in the 500-meter sprint in Butte . He was often in the top 10 in the World Cup. His best placement was a second place over 500 meters at the 2004 World Cup in Harbin, China . In 2002/03 and in the following season he was ninth in the overall World Cup over 500 meters, over 1000 meters in the 2003/04 season even sixth.

He celebrated his greatest success in 2002 at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City , where he won the bronze medal over the 500-meter course and was fourth over the 1000 meters. At the sprint all-around world championship in Nagano in 2004 , he was fifth. Although he also took part in the Olympic Games in 2006, he did not get past a 26th place over 500 meters. Carpenter was US champion twice (sprint all-around in 2005, over 1000 meters in 2006), five times runner-up and four times third.
