history

The first mention of Kippelbach was a village regulation from 1542. At that time it was called Kyppenbach . In Turks control register 1552 twelve names are mentioned. Because of the Thirty Years War there was great need in the village. The nearby Schwedenschanze brought hunger, murder and plague to the place.

The village lived from agriculture, forestry and peddling. A charcoal burner, a glassworks, a lime distillery and a brickworks were also operated. In 1910, 154 inhabitants were named in the municipality register of the town that was then part of the Gersfeld district .

In the winter of 1937/38 the 170 inhabitants were resettled. Soon after, the buildings began to decline. The municipality and the Kippelbach district were officially dissolved by a resolution of the Hessian state government on April 1, 1953.
