Way of life

The typical habitat of Kirbya moerens are forest edges and meadows. Kirbya moerens is one of the first species of flies to be seen in spring. The flight time usually lasts from late March to May. Kirbya moerens belongs to the subfamily Dexiinae , whose representatives lay their eggs on various insects and whose hatched larvae develop within the corresponding host. The question of which hosts are specifically used by Kirbya moerens is still an open research area.
