history

Altgarbsen village church

The red brick church is located in the center of Alt-Garbsen. The rectangular nave with the characteristic arched windows and a gable roof with sloping gable tops (hipped roof) was put into use on September 21, 1845. The sacred building was built by the architect Friedrich August Ludwig Hellner. Originally the pastor Baldenius wanted to renovate the old chapel, but then had to accept that a new building was necessary. The interior had 218 seats back then, today there are 250 seats. The surrounding gallery divides the nave into two parts. It is made up of four pillarsworn on the long side and two on the western broadside. The arrangement creates a focus on the pulpit that hangs over the altar . The ceiling was originally blue and decorated with gold stars, the walls imitated marble stones. The oldest bell in the church dates from 1703.

organ

The organ of the church was originally built in 1664 by M. Friedrich Behme from Braunschweig for the Marktkirche in Hanover . In 1687 it was sold to the Marienwerder monastery church and in 1705 it was donated to Garbsen. In 1715 the organ got its current case .
