Callbach Church
The Protestant Church Callbach was first built in 1334 and serves as a parish church for the Protestant parish in Callbach in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate .
history
The church was built in 1334, destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout history. In 1782, with the third church building by the building director Friedrich Gerhard Wahl from the Duke of Zweibrücken , the hall church received its present form. In the church, services of the Protestant parish are held.
Architecture and equipment
Building design
The rectangular hall building rises on the slope above Kirchstrasse and is accessed via a staircase with an outside portal. Because of the hillside location, the church is partially basement with a simple vaulted cellar. The facade of the basement facing the street is made of exposed brickwork made of sandstone blocks. The structure follows the typical east-west orientation of church buildings with a slight deviation . The monochrome white plastered facade with its design elements in the architectural style of classicism is structured by corner pilasters made of natural stone. Portal and windows in the central axis and a gable field with round windows accentuate the entrance facade of the linear building.
Furnishings and paintings
The parish church has been renovated since 1993 in two construction phases outside (1993–95) and inside (1998–99). The restoration and renovation resulted in a restructured, multifunctional church space . The newly designed interior with a new color concept offers additional functional rooms and uses. The new room concept required a consistent redesign of the seating and the original transverse alignment to the altar and the pulpit on the longitudinal wall of the hall. The natural stone slabs of the church floor with its traces of use, the pews and the simple wooden table altar have been revised and restored. A sandstone stele with a gilded baptismal bowl based on current designs complements the church furniture. The installation of a small kitchen, a chair storage area, a toilet facility and an exposed room divider (mobile partition) enable the community members to stay on a wide variety of occasions. In addition to worship and liturgical acts, it is also used for meetings and cultural events.
