Evangelical Church in Dammwolde

The Dammwolde Church is a listed building in Dammwolde , a district of Fincken in the Mecklenburg Lake District ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). It belongs to the parish of Massow in the Propstei Neustrelitz, Mecklenburg parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

History and architecture

Condition after the renovation

After the Thirty Years' War the village had shrunk to five residents. The church had fallen completely and the wood was overgrown with grass. it says in a chronicle.

Today's half-timbered church on a rectangular floor plan on a low field stone base was built in 1679, the boarded tower was added at a later time. The tower is crowned with an onion . The small extension at the front serves as an entrance area. The badly dilapidated building was completely renovated by 2004. The flat wooden ceiling from the 18th century in the interior rests on a carved center support, it is decorated with remarkable leaves and flowers. A refreshing of the colors and additions according to findings are planned for the future.

Furnishing

  • The stained glass dates from 1671 and 1694.
  • The pulpit , the gallery and the altarpiece , in the middle of which a painting of the crucifixion can be seen, are works from the period 1730 to 1740.
