The village church of Nordgermersleben is the Protestant church in Nordgermersleben , municipality of Hohe Börde in the district of Börde in Saxony-Anhalt. It stands on the western outskirts in the churchyard.

The St. Marien and Pankratius Church, founded by Kunigunde von Walbeck in 995 and consecrated in 996 by Bishop Hilliward von Halberstadt , was under the control of the Counts of Walbeck , who left them to the Walbeck Collegiate Monastery .

From the previous building of the existing church, the Romanesque tower has been preserved, to which a two-storey east extension was added in 1819. This church turned out to be too small and damp, so a new building was built on the tower and inaugurated in April 1905. The interior of the church underwent a radical modernization in 1970.

The neo-Romanesque church is made of regularly layered red sandstone. The approx. 18 m long main nave extends between the approx. 8 × 5 m massive west transverse tower and the equally large chancel in the east, to which the 3 m wide side aisle adjoins to the south. To the south-east is the sacristy in the line of the south and east side, in the south-west corner there is a somewhat recessed entrance room. The main nave is covered with a hipped roof, the side aisle with three tent roofs. The copper roofing of the narrow octagonal tower roof turret, which was added in 1904, was renewed in the 1970s. At that time, the damaged slate roof was replaced by concrete tiles, which was followed by clay tile roofing in 2014. The glazing was renewed in 2015.

Three wide-span round arches over the pillars separating the aisle and opposite each other in the blind niches of the north wall take up the neo-Romanesque structure of the exterior. The ceiling made of transverse boards is supported by strong cross beams. The romanizing window rosette in the east wall is walled up.

The Romanesque altar plate with a visible sepulcrum was placed vertically in the entrance room after it lay in the floor in 1700 and was used again in the second half of the 19th century. In the almost square chancel there is a modern sandstone altar with six iron chandeliers set into the floor, an ambo, each with writing (“Joh 6.18 I am the bread of life ” or “Matth 26.41 God is love ”) and a Baptism base. The baroque pulpit altar wall from 1700 and the chandelier were removed in 1970.

The baptism angel donated by Hermann Wissmann in 1698 - a duplicate of the Bebertal baptismal angel from the workshop of Michael Helwig - was returned to its place after a crash in 1842 - in 1904 after restoration and repainting. Removed again in the course of the church modernization, it returned in the 1980s and was professionally renovated in 2005 as part of the “Godparents for Angels” campaign.

In the western organ loft there was a first organ, created in 1753, which was replaced in 1904 by Mantel-Neuhaldensleben with a pneumatic organ that could be played from the side. The pine wood case is carved from linden wood. The organ is being renovated. A southern pore was removed as part of the modernization.

The continuous bench from 1904 was later divided by a central aisle. The oak-covered offering box with the inscription ANO 1687 , covered with iron bands, is in the entrance room. The gravestone of Pastor Peter Wilhelm Behrends , originally located in front of the church, is placed next to the entrance door of the main nave .

The bronze bell from 1366 bears the inscription: ANNO DOMINi. M. ° CCC ° LXVI. IN THE . SCI. JOHANNIS APLI AVE MARIA. GRACI + DEFUNCTOS. PLANGO. ViVOS. VOCO. FULGURA. FRANGO. AMEN. A head of Christ is depicted in quatrefoil, furthermore a relief of the Evangelist John, a medallion with a relief of saints, a Madonna relief with a child, a medallion with a tournament knight on horseback, a relief with a kneeling saint praying, a Madonna enthroned with the Christ child. Another bell from Schilling , Apolda was added in 1978, inscription: O country, country, hear the word of the Lord .
