The St. Mark's Church (Serbian: Црква Светог Марка / Crkva Svetog Marka ) is an in neobyzantinischem style built Serbian Orthodox church in the Serbian capital Belgrade . The church is located in Tašmajdan Park in Belgrade, near the Serbian Parliament , and is dedicated to St. Mark the Apostle and Evangelist . St. Mark's Church was built between 1931 and 1940 on the site of an older church (1835). It was built in the so-called Serbian-Byzantine style by the architects Petar and Branko Krstić and is particularly reminiscent of the Gračanica Monastery . Until the construction of the Cathedral of St. Sava was the Church of St. Markus as the largest Orthodox church in the former Yugoslavia . As with the Cathedral of St. The Second World War prevented Sava from completing the church, so that large areas of the interior are still unfinished.

In the church there is the burial place u. a. of the Serbian tsar Stefan Dušan and the last king of the Obrenović family , Aleksandar Obrenović and his wife Draga Mašin .

The church is 62 m long and 45 m wide. The top of the dome with a diameter of 10 m is 60 m. The interior of the church occupies an area of ​​1150 m² and can accommodate 2000 people.
