history

The church was built in 1879 according to plans by Theodor Höijer and replaced the old church , which was in ruins at that time .

At the north end of the church there is a tower, at the south end there is a multi-story choir , surrounded by a multi-story sacristy . The windows are high and closed with arches, through which both the church hall and the galleries are illuminated. There are supporting pillars on the outer walls, but they are of no structural significance because the church has a wooden roof.

The church has seats for 790 people. The altarpiece was painted by Alexandra Frosterus-Såltin in 1888 and is called Canaanite Woman . One of the two church bells was cast in 1839, the year of manufacture of the other bell is unknown.

The writer Kalle Päätalo is buried in the church garden .
