The KirchenZeitung Diocese Linz is the information and communication organ of the Diocese of Linz .

history

The publication of the Linzer Kirchenblatt began under Bishop Josephus Calasanz Fließer and pastoral care director Franz Vieböck. The first issue of the weekly magazine for the Catholics of the Diocese of Linz appeared on Oct. 28, 1945. From 1975 the newspaper was called the Linzer Kirchenzeitung , from 1989 it was called the Church Newspaper of the Diocese of Linz and since 2005 it has appeared as the “KirchenZeitung Diocese Linz”.

90,000 of the No. 1 in 1945 were launched. The circulation increased in the following years to a high of 142,000 copies. Years later, the circulation leveled off at around 122,000 pieces. In 1968/69 the circulation began to decline. In 1971 it was 116,000, in 1973 it was 112,000 and in 1974 it was 106,000. The steady decline in the following years led to a print run of almost 32,900 copies in the 2nd half of 2014 (according to ÖAK). The KirchenZeitung Diözese Linz is read in 48 countries worldwide.

The church sheet was initially housed in the Linz cathedral parish courtyard. On May 1, 1946, Canon Vieböck moved with the pastoral office and the church journal to the Caritashaus in the Seilerstätte. In 1980 the newly established pastoral office of the Linz diocese was moved into on Kapuzinerstraße, to which the KirchenZeitung also moved.
