Solidarity award from the Linz church newspaper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The solidarity award of the Linzer Kirchenzeitung is a solidarity award of the KirchenZeitung Diözese Linz .

description

The KirchenZeitung Diözese Linz has awarded the Solidarity Prize annually since 1994 to people and groups who have distinguished themselves through particularly trend-setting and solidarity-based action in the areas of peace, justice, the preservation of creation, the three themes of the conciliar process and social issues .

The solidarity award has three categories:

  • Individuals
  • groups
  • Youth projects

The prize money amounts to a total of 18,000 euros and is raised with 10,000 euros by the social department of Upper Austria ( Deputy Governor Josef Ackerl ) and 8,000 euros by the Diocese of Linz and divided equally between the maximum of nine and, since 2016, a maximum of 10 award winners.

Since 1994, more than 225 solidarity award winners have been named.

The announcement takes place regularly on October 26th, the Austrian national holiday . The award ceremony will take place in the following year on May 15 (or in the near future) in the Linz country house by the Linz bishop, the Upper Austrian governor and the Upper Austrian social council. The time bracket is very important for the solidarity award. May 15 is a triple day of remembrance: Austrian State Treaty (1955), publication of the first papal social encyclical (1891) and publication of the Austrian social shepherd's letter (1990). Together with the national holiday, these three days of remembrance - according to the organizers of the solidarity award - are special days to make solidarity an issue.
